    Early Life and Education

    Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the son of the revered Mauritian independence leader Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, was born on June 14, 1947.

    After pursuing medical studies in Dublin, Ireland, he became a fully registered medical practitioner in the United Kingdom in 1977. Subsequently, he ventured into the legal field, earning a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics.

    Prime Ministerial Tenures

    Ramgoolam's political journey began with his election as Prime Minister in 1995.

    His first term was marked by two by-elections, which he successfully contested, and a period of racial unrest following the death of Creole singer and seggae icon, Kaya. In 2000, he
