Sir jimmy savile official letter
Envelope written by Princess Diana to Jimmy Savile 33 years ago to go on sale for £699
An envelope written by Princess Diana to Jimmy Savile is being sold by an autograph collector for £699.
Michael Wain bought the historic letter from an American auction house earlier this year and now hopes to sell it to a British audience.
The envelope was penned by Diana 33 years ago - on November 17, 1990.
A postmark reveals it was put in a postbox in Gloucestershire, so most likely written and posted from Highgrove in Tetbury, then the country residence of the Princess of Wales and her husband Charles.
The envelope is addressed to Sir James Savile OBE, then living at Flat 84, 22 Park Crescent, London W1. Diana added the word 'Private' in the bottom left-hand corner.
